BlackBerry open to strategic alternatives including sale

Friday, August 23, 2013

BlackBerry announced that the company was open to strategic alliances including joint venture  and also full or partial stake sale.

The company has formed a special committee to explore the alternatives in order to enhance value and increase scale, and also accelerate BlackBerry 10 deployment. The six-member special committee will be led by Timothy Dattels and will also have the President and CEO Thorsten Heins as part of it.

The company’s market share has been decreasing and even the launch of its last smartphone with latest operating software BB10 OS could not help increase the sales and performance of the company.
