Saturday, February 16, 2013

Samsung has for the first time taken the first position in terms of sales of mobile phone for the year ended 2012 world-wide as per the latest data released by Gartner. Apple was close second for the year.

Samsung had sold around 384 million mobile phones around the world in the previous year ended 2012. The good news is that sale of smart phones were more than 50 percent of the total sales whereas in 2011, smart phones component was just around 28 percent of the total phones sold by Samsung.

On the other hand, its arch rival, Apple, sold 130 million smart phones around the world. The decrease in sales for the Apple phone can be attributed to the launch of iPad mini and expensive models such as iPhone 4 and 4S models.
