FBI Releases its First App for iPhone 'Child ID'

Saturday, August 06, 2011

FBI has released its first app for iPhone named as 'Child ID'. This app lets you store pictures and information such as weight, height and other physical features of your child so that you can show them to security or police officer if you child goes missing.
The free FBI Child ID app provides a convenient place to electronically store photos and vital information about your child so that it’s literally right at hand if your child goes missing. You can show the pictures and provide physical identifiers such as height and weight to security or police officers on the spot. Using a special tab on the app, you can also quickly and easily e-mail the information to authorities with a few clicks. The app also includes tips on keeping children safe as well as specific guidance on what to do in those first few crucial hours after a child goes missing.

This seems like a great app and is a good idea to keep it on your iPhone but there is a huge drawback in this app. The app isn't password protected. So if your iPhone gets stolen, all your kids' personal information will be lost too.

Child ID is available on App Store for free. It is compatible with iPhone, iPod Touch and iPad and requires iOS 4.2 or above.
